Switch Chess App

I am delighted to share the news of my collaboration with Eduardo Navas on his latest project, the Switch Chess App, which has now been released in its beta version. Navas, a highly esteemed author, and researcher known for his profound work on remix theory, aesthetics of sampling, and art media design, brings his expertise in cultural analytics and digital humanities to this innovative application. The app builds upon the traditional rules of chess by introducing a unique twist that encourages players to comprehend the decision-making process of others within distinct circumstances.

According to Navas, “Switch Chess App is an expanded version of Switch Chess, a performative work of art played based on chance. The board game is designed to prompt players to alternate randomly between positions, not with the objective of winning, but to comprehend the rationale behind another person’s choices within their unique circumstances, which are partially beyond their control.”

Through our collaborative effort, the app takes these fundamental rules to new heights by allowing players not only to switch positions but also to switch colors.

The beta version of the app currently enables users to play against themselves, but we have exciting updates in the pipeline that will enable multiplayer functionality.

As an individual deeply passionate about cultural analytics, digital humanities, and the intersection of art and media in society, I am honored to be part of this collaboration and eagerly anticipate its future trajectory.

Stay tuned for further developments!
